    Where is Andy, the runner?

    • London, last time I checked.

      • Kamil

        Hello Luke!
I’ve never realised how powerful tool is having internet in this globalised world, but this proves that every interreaction is likely to happen! :)
I hope you’ll have one of my favorite characters back on here!

      • Cat

We hope too… Andy is a big legend in the Lepland! :)

    • Andy Johnson

      I’m here!

      • Kamil

Blimey! hello Andy! You came up from nowhere and I’m quite surprised! it’s my pleasure to talk to you, mr Bjorn. First time I heard podcast with you when I was in Sweden during my two-year period there. I did really enjoy that time and I have to say that I’ve got something what I call ‘swedish syndrome’, yeah, ‘syndrome is right word fort this. I was kind of impressed with Sweden and swedish people living in there. After I came back to Poland I started to track swedish traces in reality, if you know what I mean. I used to perk up a bit when I came across thing which comes from Sweden and I’m still doing it I guess!

So this is how you became part of my memories from Sweden! :)

How are your feet? Watch out for Lego! you never know when your son tries to entrap you with painful lego!

Those shoes won’t help, though. Too fluffy and soft.
And please — don’t step over our Father Christmas! :D

      • Andy Johnson

        Hi Kamil,

I haven’t been onto this page for a few weeks, but just happened to be passing on Friday when I saw your comment. Luke and I are hopefully going to do a couple of episodes soon – we’re just trying to find a suitable time to sit down and do the recordings. Now that he’s a father too it becomes that little bit harder to find times that work for both of us.

        Cheers,

        Andy

      • Jack

King and I are still waiting for our gifts ;(

      • Cat

        … which is what? :)
        King vs Rock? :))

      • Jack

Just imagine that Catherine. It would be like having T-Rex vs Spinosaurus all over again

        ROFL :D

      • Cat

What is a spinosaurus? A saurus with a big spine? :D
        Who is which?

      • Nick

        Спиногрыз

      • Cat

        :)))

      • Jack

        Hahhaha !

You are on point Ye :)

      • Cat

I’m wondering whether the King is going to duke it out or not…

      • Jack

        Duke it out

What does that mean Catherine ? :)

      • Cat

Kind of saying to fight to find it out, I reckon. Came across while reading an article on the Internet the other day…

      • Jack

        Thanks Ye :)

      • Cat
      • Andy Johnson

Be patient Jack, they’re in the post. Andromeda is a long way away.

      • Jack

        ;(

I miss you professor. Please record an episode with King.

      • Nick

        Haha, nice one.

      • Cat

What did you send to him, Andy? I’m curious. You know, he is a millennial and is used to have an instant gratification. :))

      • Nick

I think Luke could strongly suggest Andy to send one green thing… to make Jack very happy :))

      • Nick

        Big Brother is watching us!

      • Nick

Oh, my gosh, he can see me!

      • Cat

Big Brother is watching his little brotha. :)

      • Nick

        Who’s his little brother?

      • Cat

        Guess who :)

      • Nick

I have no idea who is Andy’s little brother here :|

      • Andy Johnson

        Intermittently…

      • Nick

Intermittently is better than nothing :)

      • Cat

Dear Andy, nice to see that you follow Luke’s page! :)
Have you guys planned the next catching-up with each other? That would be interesting to listen to, now where Luke has gathered some experience of being a Dad.
Thanks to both of you (and hopefully Ben too) in advance!
        Byebye,
        Grateful Cat :)

      • Marta KL

Hey Andy, nice to see you around again! How’s your marathon preparation going on?

  • ptholome/Antonio

I am transcribing episode 461, I thought people would be very interested on the transcript. Alas, no, nobody is interested after they did 4 chunks… I have to say that I am really bored doing it. but I will finish it bit by bit… it is certainly useful which is what I think and was the reason I created the doc. But the reality is that nobody is interested.

Well back to my boring chunk. :) English learning is not always so funny. But what must be done should be done.

  • Amazonas Púrpura

Can I ask something, maybe stupid, but I need to do it:
Why The English is somethimes written with this sign like:
He’s in the next “door-but-one along from us.”
    “Up-to-date”

I’ve read a lot this kind of phrases but I don’t know what’s de rule.

    • Agnes

      Hi Amazonas!

It is not a stupid question, you got it out of my mouth, I also wanted to ask Luke about this rule. I guess it might be compound words, but I might be wrong.

Luke, I remember you mentioned also about phrases like this: “two-month course” – month we write as a singular, can I find it somewhere. I tried it find in the blue one, and advanced grammar in use probably I tagged wrongly.

      thanks in advance

    • ptholome/Antonio

The only stupid question is the one we don’t dare to ask.

  • ptholome/Antonio

Marta I was watching a TV documentary and they said that in your country they sell the pills “pervitin”, is it right?

    • Marta KL

Yep, that’s right. But I think that they’re no pills but a powder. It’s actually methampfetamin and it’s been used for ages here by addicts. Similar effects like cocain – they say..

      • ptholome/Antonio

Where do they sell it? it seems it was used in the WWII by German Army so they could stay awake for 4 days…

      • Marta KL

Well it’s an illegal drug, so it’s been sold at the places where illegal drugs are available.. I know nothing about it actually :)

      • ptholome/Antonio

I saw it yesterday on a documentary and they said that only in your country were still selling them. Maybe the documentary was an old one. I didn’t thought it was a drug. I thought it was something I could use when I drive 800 to 900 km in a row when I go to France. But reading about it it appear that it is a dangerous thing.

I remember a drug in the American movies named “Cristal” which seems is the “pervitin”

      • Marta KL

Dunno what Cristal is. As a language addict I know only David Crystal :)))
I’d recommend a coffee and short naps during your 900 km driving marathon more than pervitin :-D

      • ptholome/Antonio

The pervitin is named now “Cristal” but of course I am not going to buy any drug. I will only stop driving so many km in a row maybe 650 would be OK and do the journey in three days instead. :)

      • Marta KL

Oh ok. Here it is called still pervitin.

      • And how do we get it, how much is it, do we get a special LEP discount?

      • Marta KL

        :D
Luke, I thought that you have now your own drug that makes you stay awake through the nights! And it’s completely legal :))

      • Haha, yes – exactly!

      • Nick

You want to buy it, Antonio? :))

      • ptholome/Antonio

When I saw the documentary I thought it would be interesting to have them, but thereafter, I read about it and it seems it is a drug, so it is better to avoid them.

      • Nick

        Yes, it’s a serious stuff.

      • ptholome/Antonio
  • Cat

    CP = Central Processor (unit) ? :))

A new expression for you dear lepsters – a spherical bastard.

A spherical bastard is anyone who’s a bastard whichever way you look at him.

  • Ali Mohebban

Hi everyone, I couldn’t find Luke’s app in microsoft store. is it really available? If anyone knows plz let me know.

    • Nick

Yes, also couldn’t find it there.

    • ptholome/Antonio

It is in apple and Android. But it seems it is not in Window plataform. Maybe luke will give you a better information.

    • Kamil

      Windows Phone is almost dead.

  • Marta KL

Luke, I’m wondering what happened with your idea of asking your neighbour for an interview? Did he move out? (I mean Jarvis Cocker) :))

    • Jarvis doesn’t actually live in my building. He’s in the next door-but-one along from us. So, still in the same square as us, but I don’t have access to his letter box so I can’t leave him a note. I suppose I could send him a letter through the mail but I’ve been hoping to see him in a local cafe and then just strike up a conversation with him.
Last time I saw him was about a year ago walking down the street. I’m always too shy to stop him and speak to him! I also don’t know how I would invite him on the Podcast. He’s really famous and I’m not sure if he’d want to do it. I should just ask him anyway but I’d hate to be an irritation for him. I feel like I should get to know him a bit before inviting him.

      • Marta KL

Oh ok Luke, thanks for your reply! It sounds like an example of British politeness – but I can absolutely feel you!
ps: don’t be shy, give it a try :)) (credit goes to Cat for this phrase)

      • ptholome/Antonio

Luke said it in his podcasts too when he challenges people to start speaking.

      • ptholome/Antonio

He has a website, I remember I wrote there that you wanted to invite him to your podcast and I wrote your contact email there. But I don’t know if he read what people write there. maybe You should go there and invite him.
