    Thank you.

  • Orion team

    Well people,

We have finished a new episode the 391 so you can use it and suggest your corrections. To correct an episode is easier than to proofread because most of the job is done and advanced English students can done a better doc without too much effort. It is long but less than what we had.

    Hi all,
I reached here by googling my app speater by below some comments. First of all, thanks someone for using my humble app. Now I read through comments and amazingly I see words ‘the London school of English’. Actually I leant English at that school 6 years ago. I love the school, colleagues, teachers and London life at that time. It’ my great memory regardless of my English level :). I miss lovely British accent.
Thanks for amazing and great podcasts. I will start studying English again by this podcasts.

    • Wow, what a coincidence! Some of my listeners have found your app really useful. Well done on developing it!
You were at The London School six years ago? I wonder if you were my student. I taught English there from 2006 to 2012.
Welcome to my website and my podcast!

      • Yoon

        Hi Luke,

Yes, what a coincidence! I was there in 2011. I met many teachers, maybe I was taught, but I am not sure I met you in a class. I am listening latest episode and definetly it’s so helpful. Appreciate for your dedication and great efforts for a long time.

      • Hiro

        Hello Yoon,

I’ve been using your Speater since last week. I’m very glad I can now write to you. It’s an excellent app.

I used to have a tough time in transcribing Luke’s episodes. I used to struggle for hours and hours in catching words. But now I can do transcription much more easily and comfortably with your app! Thank you very much, Yoon!

      • Yoon

        Hi Hiro,
Thanks for finding and Glad to hear it help.
I am sure you are doing great work. I hope to transcribe an episode and compare the “answer”. It looks good way to study. I need my app as well.
        Thank you.

      • Hiro

Thanks, Yoon, for the advise. Yes, I should compare the answer. I haven’t done it!
I use your app when I just listen to my favorite podcasts. When I happen to notice useful phrases or words I add bookmarks, and come back later to check them.
Thanks a lot. Please keep up the excellent work!

    • Orion team

      Hi Yoon,

Well maybe you can sell your app a little cheaper for people of the Orion team. :) But I have paid it with a great pleasure because It is very useful for the transcription project. But I know that I am going to be on the team for at least until we will transcribe 100 episodes 42 left now.

But I think is a great app compared to what I was using before. Maybe you could sponsor this page because we are more than 20000 people downloading this podcast and your app is good even for the repetition practice.

      • Yoon

        Hi Orion team,

      • Ptholome

Thank you yoon for this great gesture. We appreciate it a lot. It will allow people to test it more deeply than the only two minutes of your “free Lite”

A question, I’ve paid and downloaded the app to my iPad but Do I need to pay again if I want to have it also on my iPod?

      • Yoon

        Hi Ptholome,

As I know, it’s possible to use the same paid app even at different devices as long as you use the same id at app store for paid app.
So you dont need redeem code.

    • Hiro

      Hello Yoon,

  • John Frost

    Hi, Luke!
I can’t get on your podcast from my smartphone from Russia, it is said that Russian authorities banned it :((

    • Ptholome

Why don’t you ask to people who are meeting in Moscow what are they doing? they have a post here so you can ask then from the post of this page. Look for it because they wrote one last week or the two weeks ago.

  • Orion team

    Hi, LEPsters.

We have finished the episode #178 I’m still here.

    docs.google.com/document/d/1piqjIhwK0RNvFjBQRKy_UOzegPXuHORO1HeQJjAm9iM/edit?usp=sharing

Two years ago Luke was away from his podcast and he had to tell people: I’m still here! Now we are working hard to follow his podcasts and even thinking why the LEPsters have not Holidays? I’m kidding you, people. :)

Well, we have a lot of gaps on it and we would like to have your help to improve it. So go to read it and we are looking forward to see your suggestions.

Thank you to the Ninjas and to the members of our team who have finally finished this episode.

  • Marta KL

Hi Luke, I´d like to ask you if you have an Instagram account for LEP? I´ve just discovered their live videos recently and must say that it´s a really cool and easy way to be in touch with a group of people in real time for as long time as you want to :)
It would be great to see you this way time to time :)
    Just think about it pls.
    have a nice day, cheers!

    • Hi Marta, I don’t have an Instagram account but I should try the live videos. I’m considering doing it on Facebook too.

      • Catherine

Oh, what happens then to people who don’t have any Instagram and Facebook accounts? :°°(

      • Agnes

:-( I don’t have also these accounts:-( what then?

Cat we really are not Millennials:-)

      • Catherine

As Amber said “I’m too old” for that. :))

      • Marta KL

        Cool, I can´t wait!

  • Orion team

    Hi LEPsters,

The episode 423 and 424 are available, so you can test your knowledge and understanding practicing and joining the Transcription Project transcribing one chunk 3 min long. And if you likje it and want to improve faster you can make as much as you want. we have tons of episodes yet to transcribe but if you don’t come now, soon there will be nothing to transcribe because we are going to do everything and maybe I will be forced to make chunks 1 min long to have all our team happy. :))

    episode 423: docs.google.com/document/d/1Hqu1tUWfHh3ZRX8qinGLhE9qQTwh-t_-6aGWp8WR6eg/edit?usp=sharing

    episode 424: docs.google.com/document/d/1Txqw7cF4QKBVArqSaWrOCvO1QQlH9hXSNaY5daZ0Ysg/edit?usp=sharing

Thank you for your help. :)

Hi, People, Yesterday a friend of mine, Natali, sent me this link:

    • Catherine

      Wow, wonderful!!! Thanks!
We love it too (my son — not daughter! — and myself) ;))

      • Ptholome

        :)

    • Alessandro De Vanna

      Thank you Antonio, that’s mind-blowing!

  • Orion team

    Hi transcribers,

    Thank you Hiroko,

I read your comment about the new app you are using while transcribing “Speater” and I download it to my iPad. It is much better that “Voice record”. the app I was using whis is good bat not as good as “Speater”

So, I want to tell to all people transcribing and or anting to help, that “Speater” is great and the “Lite” version is free. The pro cost les than 5 euros but I think they deserve the money. Maybe it’s a little expensive but if you ar going to transcribe 100 episodes I think it is worth to buy it.

Speater for apple devices. AH! the most interesting is that the app take the episodes you have saved on the apple app “Podcast. So I don’t need to download the audio on my computer then upload it to the cloud and then download it to Voice Record.

With Speater you download the episode to your podcast, save it and when you opne Speater you have all the saved episodes there. It’s Great!

If you were here, Hiroko, I would give you a big kiss and a big hug. :)

    Thank you very much.

    • Hiro

      Thank YOU, Antonio,
You seem to be doing transcription much more comfortably now.

Yes, Speater is a powerful weapon for transcription! Transcribers should check it.

I knew it at Olly Richards’ website. He has a lot of useful information for language learners.
Another app that he strongly recommends is Flashcard DeLuxe. It’s a great app, too.
I’ve been using it for 2 years myself, but the difference between the polyglot and me is that he uses it thoroughly, and haven’t. I believe the difference leads to a even more huge difference. So I now use the app as much as Olly does. I just imitate him, and that works!

      www.iwillteachyoualanguage.com/app-review-flashcards-the-best-app-for-learning-vocabulary/

      • Orion team

I didn’t understand how the flash cards app works. I think I bought it but I didn’t know what to do worth it. Sometimes I am Brilliant and other times I am idiot. So maybe I was in my idiot phase when I bought this app.

      • Hiro

I can totally relate, Antonio, because I’m familiar with the two phases myself :-)
When I was a high school student I hated flashcards ( that were a set of real paper things, of course. It was a long time ago). They used to be torn apart and scattered in my school bag.
I used to use them only as a word-to-word device those days. I mean I wrote a single English word on one side and it’s literal translation in Japanese on another side. Building my vocabulary with the flashcards needed a great patience and I easily got bored, because I knew I couldn’t use the words in real world.
Now I use the Flashcards DeLuxe app more effectively. I write a set of words or sentences on the cards.
Unlike paper flashcards the app has multiple sides. I can also attach audio and visual clips to each card. A very smart app.
I got it on my iPhone and view it twice or three times a day.

      • Catherine

Hiro, I wonder if you know about the two-notebook method Luke has mentioned… Do you use it? I can imagine that Japanese are very technology oriented and don’t use old good notebooks any more.

      • Hiro

Hi Cat! Yes, I know the method, and I’ve been doing it. I like old good notebooks, too. I love handwriting. I imagine I would lose something if I ceased doing handwriting. So I like both – apps and notebooks. How about you?

      • Catherine

Oh, I’m quite old-fashioned. Using good old notebooks always. :)

      • Hiro

I , too, use notebooks ( or notepads) when I try to memorize something really seriously. It may be a good old habit from childhood. :)

      • Catherine

… maybe you are susceptible to the moon phases, like ebb and flow, ebb and flow… :)

    • Ptholome

This app is for iPhone so in your iPad you must take the option “only iPhone” and it is amazing.
