This is the third episode of a mini-series entitled “Your English Podcast” or “YEP” for short, and in this episode I am going to showcase more recordings sent to me by listeners as part of a big competition. I’ve launched to celebrate the 5th birthday and 200 episodes of LEP. All the details of this competition are in episode 200 so you might like to listen to that one first if you haven’t already. Also, before I play you this set of competition entries I’m going to give you some information, rules and guidelines about the voting process. Click here to read those rules and guidelines.

In episode 3 you will hear recordings from these LEPSTERS:

Evgeny from Russia
Gabor from Hungary
Gabriela from Brazil
Gabriella from Italy
Gerald from France, living in Belgium
Giovanni from Italy
Gudu from Ethiopia, living in Finland
Guillaume from Switzerland
Voting in the competition is now closed.
It was very very difficult to choose one person in this set of entries. But, Giovanni, you were the best. I liked the way you compared knowing English with having a passport. And you know, maybe it’s not a bad thing that Italian is not spoken world-wide because than you wouldn’t have to learn a new language and learning a new language is always great because it gives one a sense of perspective and it shows you how the world can be different if you look at it from another perspective. An experience impossible to get if you speak only one language.
By the way, in Russian the situation with learning English at school is the same. You learn it for 10 years, that you graduate, travel to some English-speaking country and realise that a) you don’t understand anything, b) you can’t say anything yourself either.
I vote for Giovanni.
Eugenia, your entry was very nice.
Gerald you have a wonderful accent! I would never guessed you were French.
TED talks are usually soo boring (IMHO). They manage to make a speech last 20 or more minutes when the idea could easily be expressed in less than five minutes.
Evgeny you have a very beautiful deep voice. You could read poetry, you know? Yep, your podcast was informative.
Gudu made a very good point – it would be great to hear from people who have been listening to LEP from the very beginning.
Hey,Ksenia! I’m from Russia, too. I fully agree with you as far as the participants are concerned. I also think that Giovanni was the best in this set of entries. And I am of the same opinion about all the other participants. As for Ted talks, most of them are quite interesting and educational.
I vote for Gabor from Hungary
I listened all the podcasts and I definitely vote for Giovanni from Italy: his english is effective and he is a great motivator as well. I appreciated his philosophy of life :)
